Meeting Standards

United Way of Allen County in 2008 met United Way of America's strict membership requirements.

Among the criteria considered for membership are resource development and the organization's investment policies and decisions.

"It is critically important that all United Ways meet the highest standards and verify on paper that they have conformed to the stringent requirements of membership in the United Way system," said Brian Gallagher, president and CEO of United Way of America. "We applaud and congratulate United Way of Allen County for demonstrating their commitment by completing the recertification process."

Jerry Peterson, President and CEO of United Way of Allen County, said UWAC takes seriously its commitment to be a good steward of the public's trust and money.

"It is important," he said, "for us to maintain a high standard of accountability and this is part of the process to document that our operations are transparent and meet or exceed United Way membership criteria."

The United Way of Allen County is part of a system of 1,350 United Ways across the country.

United Way of Allen County is also in compliance with Better Business Bureau of Northern Indiana standards.
